Bikini season is fast approaching! Time to make some changes.
One area of my life in which I know I need to improve is health and fitness. I LOVE to eat. I mean, it is just one of my favorite pastimes. When it comes to actual meals, I am generally not too terribly unhealthy (except for an occasional Mexican food binge); however, I have a major sweet tooth. Brownies and cheesecake are my weaknesses.
My job also contributes to my unhealthy eating. I am a stress eater, and nursing is most definitely a stressful job (ever wonder why so many nurses are so fat?). On top of that, I work nightshift, which means that at approximately 1:30am every night I am working I start craving greasy pizza and M&Ms. All day long when I am at home, I can make myself eat healthily. But in the middle of the night I just have no self control.
Fortunately, I have always been naturally on the skinny side. I am blessed with good genetics (so far, anyway). For the most part I can eat what I want without worrying too much about gaining weight. I realize, though, that this is not going to last forever, and I need to get into the habit of eating more healthily.
I do work out regularly. I try to get to the gym four to five days a week, and if I can’t, I have a few workout DVDs I like to rotate through. Sometimes, though, I have a hard time getting motivated, and even though I exercise regularly I don’t really feel like my body has changed that much.
So one project I want to work on is changing the way I eat and the way I exercise. I don’t have a specific plan yet, so any help would be greatly appreciated! I am not trying to lose any weight, but I want to totally overhaul my lifestyle so that I am healthier and more fit (fitter?). And, of course, I want to get more toned for bikini season. Who doesn’t want to look like a Victoria’s Secret Angel?
I will be documenting my progress on here for accountability. I am going to research recipes and exercise plans, and I would love to hear from anyone who has any ideas or advice for me!
